John Svoboda is a career guitarist with eight albums as well as a lifelong instructor of the instrument. Svoboda’s latest project “No Bow Tie” aims to steal classical music from the purists to infuse it with creative rebellion, in what has been coined “musical blasphemy.” John and his wife Myra reside and perform in Lawrence, Kansas, where John also helps his students unlock their own passion, joy, and uniqueness.

Live Music: Jacob Furr
The Whiskey Snug presents an evening of live music with Jacob Furr---an award-winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, collaborator, and genre fluid artist from Fort Worth, Texas. His work blends West Coast folk with the dusty expanses of West Texas, and explores themes and stories of love, loss, grief, and recovery. He has toured the US since 2014. Furr has opened for Peter Case, James McMurty, Kelly Willis, Shovels and Rope, and Over The Rhine, among others.
Though Furr’s most significant work is a three album cycle over
10 years about the loss of his wife to brain cancer in 2013, his
songwriting paints pictures of thunderstorms on the Llano
Estacado, cemeteries of lost life boat sailors in California, and
the intimate feelings and details of recovery and healing. All of
these stories and themes are blended into songs that range
from towering electric anthems of lost stars, to intimate, solo
work that recalls Bert Jansch and early Josh Ritter.

The Whiskey Snug welcomes Tulsa-based touring Folk/Blues/Country musician, Tom Pevear!
Tom Pevear is a Tulsa-based guitarist and singer who uses his adept fingerpicking style and vibrant singing to revitalize blues, folk, bluegrass and country songs. Released in September 2023, Pevear’s debut EP is filled with six of his favorite songs to perform. Each pays homage to various versions of the song while his interpretations are uniquely his own. He has shared the stage with, and opened for John Fullbright, Matt Tedder, Dustin Arbuckle, Kind Hearted Strangers, Mike Hosty, Seth Lee Jones and the Greyhounds to name a few.

The Whiskey Snug presents an evening of live music with March to August---an Americana-Roots duo with melodies that merge influences of Folk, Americana, Bluegrass and Celtic music and lyrics that capture the essence of the human experience. With every song, they offer poignant snapshots of life’s diverse emotions and stories, inviting listeners to reflect on the moments that shape us all.
Hailing from diverse musical backgrounds, Derrick and Jodi Mears bring a plethora of influences to their work. Their lyrics often empower the voices of those silenced by circumstance, allowing each character’s narrative to be heard, while their instrumentation draws listeners into those tales with their unique Ozark Mountain sound.
M2A’s performances instill artistry and authenticity that transport you to a bygone era while infusing their own contemporary spin. With each note, this ensemble invites you to join them on a musical journey that resonates with the soul.
No cover charge. Seating is first come, first serve. Must be 21+ to attend.

Musical missionary and tireless troubadour Jack Klatt isn’t one to be easily categorized or relegated to a narrow niche. He comes across as a young man with a wizened and worldly perspective, an artist who possesses a timeless sensibility of both place and purpose. Yet, his artistic integrity extends to more than simply his songs. It embodies both execution and intent. The way he’s mastered his deft finger-picking technique and used that sturdy approach to bring his material an authenticity reminiscent of the most revered musicians and storytellers.
A product of the nation’s heartland, Klatt was born and bred in the twin cities. He dropped out of college before spending the next six years pursuing his wanderlust and hitch hiking across the country with nothing but a backpack and a Martin guitar. He eventually made his way overseas, where he slept under the stars, traded songs for spending money and enjoyed a life typical of one who’s a drifter and bohemian. All the while, he made it his mission to proffer the songs of the American masters, from Woody Guthrie and Eddie Cochrane to Hank Williams and Marty Robbins. In the process, he found himself captivated by the full gamut of archetypical American music — a singular style that encompasses folk, blues, rock, rockabilly, R&B, and arcane country — and began to refashion it to suit his own style.
As Americana Roots UK stated so succinctly, “Jack doesn’t rely on other writers for his diversity. He can write in pretty much any musical style of his choosing.”

"Natalie Prauser blends the introspection of the 60s Laurel Canyon folk scene with the attitude of 70s outlaw country. Through tales of loving, leaving, and honky-tonk debauchery, her honest voice and razor-sharp lyricism give Prauser a cutting edge take on a timeless sound.
A Kansas native, Natalie began playing in bars at the tender age of fourteen, and was a recipient of an American Songwriters Award in 2015. Her debut solo album, "Til the Sun Comes Up" was featured on Bandcamp Daily’s “Best of Country Music” for its November 2022 release. Natalie is currently on tour through the rest of 2023."
