Live Music: Kelly Hunt & Dirk Powell
A special matinee show with Kelly Hunt and Dirk Powell celebrating Kelly's new album, REQUIEM FOR A SLEEPLESS NIGHT, (most of which was written while she was living in Weston, MO and working at The Whiskey Snug), and Dirk's new album, WAKE (dubbed a ‘masterpiece’ by No Depression).

REQUIEM FOR A SLEEPLESS NIGHT was produced by Dirk Powell at his Cypress House studio near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and features evocative vocal/instrumental collaborations on 12 of Kelly's original songs. Together, Kelly and Dirk will perform songs from both of their new albums alongside a selection of time-honored traditionals.
ABOUT DIRK POWELL:
Dirk Powell is known as a ‘musician’s musician’ in the circle of American roots music and beyond. He learned banjo and fiddle from his Kentucky grandfather and has been a part of the thriving Cajun/Creole music community in Louisiana since his 20s. He has toured and recorded with artists such as Joan Baez, Eric Clapton, Rhiannon Giddens, Loretta Lynn and many more. His albums, combining deep traditional roots with emotional original material, have influenced generations of musicians. Steve Earle calls him ‘badass, to the bone’ and Joan Baez says ‘God gave this one an overdose of talent.’ Dirk is also in demand as a producer and his studio, the Cypress House, on the banks of Bayou Teche, is known as a mecca for American roots music.
ABOUT KELLY HUNT:
Memphis native, Kelly Hunt, sings with what Rolling Stone Country describes as “the lilting cadence of a folksinger born somewhere far away, sometime long ago.” Deeply rooted in traditions of folk and old-time, Hunt’s music reimagines these forms with contemporary vigor, hovering beyond the constraints of genre and exploring the tension between past and present, old world and new. Self-taught on banjo and guitar, Hunt’s nuanced instrumental style melds finger-picking with pulsing rhythms, creating a dynamic backdrop for her soulful lyrics. Hunt’s 2019 debut, Even The Sparrow (a finalist for the International Folk Music Awards “Album of the Year”) was succeeded in 2023 by Ozark Symphony and, most recently, Requiem for a Sleepless Night (September 2026), both of which were produced by Dirk Powell and released on Compass Records.

Join us for a special evening featuring five blind whiskey tastings from five different haunted distilleries, each paired with a bite chosen to complement the spirit. With each round, you’ll taste the whiskey without knowing its identity. take in the aroma, savor the flavors, and make your best guess.
Then comes the reveal: once everyone has had a chance to taste, we’ll uncover the distillery behind the pour and share the true ghost story and haunted history surrounding the distillery. Taste the whiskey. Guess the distillery. Meet the spirits.
Costumes are highly encouraged! Come dressed for an evening among the spirits.

From Cornfield to Cask: The Story of Bourbon
Every bottle of bourbon has a story. On September 19th, we’re pouring six of them.
Join us for Bourbon Heritage Month as we drink our way through the story of America’s Native Spirit. Starting with corn whiskey and ending with a modern cask-strength finished bourbon, six pours will take us through more than two centuries of bourbon history.
Along the way, we’ll talk about bourbon’s legends and larger-than-life characters, the fight to protect real American whiskey, surviving Prohibition, bourbon’s unlikely comeback, and the modern whiskey boom.
This isn’t a history lecture. It’s good whiskey, good stories, and a chance to experience bourbon’s history one glass at a time.

Gins From The Hebrides
In the summer of 2024, our Whisky Ambassador, Mike Chamberlain, did a Gin tasting with garden fresh herbs and sliced citrus fruit. It was a huge hit, and we're doing it again in the dog days of August!
Join Mike as you sample three gins from the Hebrides (the islands off the west coast of Scotland) and one other Scottish Gin. Please join us for tastes of The Botanist, The Isle of Harris and the Isle of Raasay Gins, and one other yet to be determined.

5th Annual “Out the Front to the Back” 0.08K
Join The Celtic Ranch and The Whiskey Snug in historic downtown Weston for the 5th annual "Out The Front To The Back" 0.08K Run on Saturday, August 1st! Participants check in outside The Celtic Ranch in their respective heats where they will receive their runner's bib and exclusive t-shirt to join other runners as they "race" out the front and to the back where they cross the finish line and enjoy a whiskey root beer float at The Whiskey Snug! Proceeds will go to support The Farmer’s House youth and adults with developmental disabilities to pursue their best lives.

An Evening of Wine & Whiskey
Discover the fascinating world of wine-finished whiskeys in this unique tasting event! Join Whiskey Snug co-owner, Renz Pros, and wine connoisseur and Vintegrity distributor, Matt Boody, for an evening of sampling select wines alongside whiskeys that have been finished in those same wine barrels, revealing how the cask influences the spirit’s flavor. From cabernet sauvignons to pinot noirs to chardonnays and muscatels and more, the varieties are endless and the tasting notes are limitless!
In this evening’s tasting, you’ll taste three select wines, led by Matt, alongside three bourbons finished in those select wine barrels, led by Renz. You’ll discover the tasting notes of those wines and see how it translates to the finishing product of the bourbons. How do these wine notes complement the notes of the bourbon? Can you pick up the wine notes in that bourbon? Why do some wines impart a darker, fruiter note while others impart a more floral and dessert profile? These are the questions that may come across your mind, and you’ll discover these answers at this unique tasting event! Charcuterie board and light snacks will be offered.
